Guiding principles of the program are as follows:

  • Early learning and development are multidimensional

  • Young children are capable and competent

  • Children are individuals who develop at different rates

  • Children will exhibit a range of skills and competencies in any domain of development.

  • Young children learn through active exploration of their environment in child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities

Because preschool-aged children vary developmentally from one another, we use a spiraling curriculum model.  This means that skills are presented multiple times throughout the year, in order to meet students where they are developmentally.  An integrated approach allows teachers to present children with information and support learning with activities and experiences throughout the day.

We work hard to help each of our students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to continue to kindergarten.

The curriculum and assessment are aligned with Illinois State (ISBE) Early Learning and Development Standards which The program uses a play based curriculum in which opportunities to explore, investigate and discover are monitored by the teacher so that it is beneficial and learning oriented. The curriculum adapts practices to match the age group as well as individual needs in a manner that respects cultural differences.

Unlike daycare, our preschool is staffed by fully licensed teachers and follows Illinois State Board of Education Early Prekindergarten Learning Standards. Our teachers hold bachelor’s degrees in education and a Professional Educator License. They are committed to each child’s spiritual, academic, social and emotional development through discovery-based, hands-on learning  We maintain a student to teacher ratio of 10:1
