Welcome to 5th Grade!!!
I am Miss Hailey Schons!
This is my 1st year at St. Bede School.
I recently graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I have worked with children for the past 9 years. I was a nanny, catechist, and worked at a daycare. I love working with children, nature and playing with animals. I am excited to start my teaching career at St. Bede with these 5th grade students!

My philosophy of education begins with a safe, caring community with a good rapport to allow the children to learn and grow. I use many strategies to ensure this stays true within the classroom. The children and I will participate in classroom jobs, positive and negative discipline, differentiation, and conversations to engage one another. I enhance our learning with fun. I find that both the students and I enjoy the learning process when there are fun activities involved to keep the engagement.
Teaching is a lifelong process of learning. As I help my students flourish, I am also learning from them, their parents, colleagues and the community. I continue to learn new strategies, and ideas that allow me to enhance the environment in my classroom. Due to this process, my philosophy may be ever changing.

Overall: Students will be able to successfully use their knowledge from the year as a foundation to begin 6th grade.
Reading: Students will demonstrate correct grammar in written and oral communication.
Math: Students will demonstrate number sense in order to compute, estimate, and solve problems
Science: Students will demonstrate an understanding of life science.
Religion: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the beliefs of the Catholic Church as described in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
