Great News! St. Bede opens for weekday Masses beginning the week of July 13th! Weekend Masses will begin Sat, July 18 at 5:30pm & Sun, July 19 at 8am and 11am. Everyone's safety is of the utmost importance, therefore we are asking those of you who can to volunteer to help at the weekend Masses. In order for us to begin celebrating Masses and continue to do so, we will need 2 greeters, 2 ushers and 2 cleaners for each Mass, each weekend.
(Please, all leaders of groups & ministries, St. Bede School & Religious Ed, pass this information on to all of your members, families, etc. in order to get the word out).
If you are interested in volunteering, please refer to the attachment, which gives instructions on each of the positions of greeter, usher & cleaner and PLEASE sign up to volunteer by going to this link (you may need to do a ctrl + click on the link and check your browser at the bottom of your computer):
Some instructions for those of you who plan to come to Mass at St. Bede Church:
For all Masses, we ask that you enter only through the front doors, if able-bodied, or the side door (Rt. 59 side of the church). The metal doors by the church basement (Coleman Hall) kitchen will be locked from the outside and only used at the end of Mass for those who wish to exit out that door.
Since we can only allow for 50 to 60 people in the church, because of social distancing, we ask that you arrive about 20 minutes or so early. We are utilizing a first-come, first-served sign up system. We will be allowed to use only the church and not be able to use the church basement for overflow.
The bathrooms will be available, but only one person at a time.
You MUST wear a mask (over the nose, not under) the entire time you are in the church. Children 2 and under do not have to wear a mask.
When you arrive, you will be asked a few questions as to how you are feeling and if you have been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 within the past 14 days.
You will then be asked to sign in with your name and phone number or email. This is a requirement by the State of Illinois. Families will be asked to sign in each person in their family (only the adult needs to put down a phone number or email).
Then you will sanitize your hands and be directed to an usher who will guide you to a seat. The pews are marked for social distancing. The usher will seat people beginning with the front of the church.
There will no passing of baskets for the offertory. You may drop your envelope in the marked box on your way into the church, on your way up to communion, or after Mass.
During communion, the usher will be in the center aisle and direct you. Hand sanitizer will be available to use before you receive communion.
Please do not change seats during the Mass or after communion.
When Mass is over, please exit through one of the 3 sets of doors, keeping in mind social distancing.
If you would like to chat with someone, we are asking that you do it outside.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your cooperation in all of this. It is a challenging time, but if we adhere to the guidelines as best we can, we will all be doing our best to keep our fellow parishioners and ourselves as safe as possible. Thank you all!
