St. Bede and St. Peter parishes are joining together to become one parish effective
July 1, 2018. Both churches will retain their worship site names of St. Bede and St. Peter, but the newly formed parish will have a new name.
The 6 names being considered for the new parish name and reasoning behind them are:
Our Lady of the Lakes — Our grouping is called “The Lakes Region,” we are in Lake County, and both churches have a devotion to “Our Lady,” Mary.
Holy Family — The two churches are coming together to be a new holy family.
Mary, Mother of the Church — This is a brand new feast day that Pope Francis has declared, recognizing that Mary is indeed the mother of the Catholic Church.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd — Jesus is bringing the two churches or “flocks” together to follow God, our good shepherd.
Nativity of Our Lord — The two churches coming together is the start of something new, or a “new birth.”
Christ the Light — Jesus is our light that is always guiding us on our journey of faith.
You may give your feedback by filling out the online survey, (which must be completed by 6 PM on Sunday, April 8th) at: https://goo.gl/forms/r9L0fO2JGdN8Gp143. If you choose not to do the online survey, on the weekend of April 7/8 during Mass, you will be given a one-time opportunity to give your feedback by filling out a paper survey, which will be collected at Mass. After the feedback is received, the discernment teams will offer 3 names to the Cardinal who will make the final decision of the new parish name. Please pray to the Holy Spirit to guide us all through this process.
